Media Literacy Night @ Valley View On February 2nd at 6 p.m, Valley View Public School will be holding a Media Literacy Night. Over the course of the evening, parents will have the opportunity to visit classrooms to view student created media projects. In addition to the above, beginning at 7 p.m, Karen Horsman will make her presentation on what role media will play on this generation's future. Director's Cut Comes to Valley View P.S    Students at Valley View Public School are increasingly using computers in school as a tool to demonstrate their learning. Recently, Students in Grades 4, 5 and 6 had the opportunity to participate in Director's Cut workshops which provided our Vipers with the opportunity to experiment with digital film and imaging software and create their own Hollywood Blockbusters!! frenchimmersionFor children entering grade one, the Durham District School Board offers French Immersion as an optional program for students. The French Immersion Parents' Information Night (at our Area French Immersion School)
Who: For parents/guardians of current SK students entering Gr.1 in September 2012
When:   Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.
Where: Frenchman's Bay Public School

Pre-registration will begin following the meeting and will be available at the school thereafter. Please click on the picture link for more information on this option. A second information night will be held at the board office at 7 p.m. on April 26th for any parents unable to attend in February.

GUIDELINES FOR EMERGENCY CLOSING OF SCHOOLS

 Parents should be aware of the following:
(a) During inclement weather, the Durham Board may attempt to keep schools
open, but this does not mean that students must be sent to school. It is the
parents' responsibility to decide if conditions are safe for their children to walk
to and from school.
(b) Once the school day has begun, students will normally remain until the school
day is over. Should it become necessary to close the school early, the decision
will be made before 11:00 a.m. to facilitate afternoon kindergarten students.
(c) When buses are cancelled in the morning they will not run in the afternoon.
(d) Listen for radio announcements early in the morning during inclement weather.
